Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe Inspired by S-Class

When the Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan first debuted, it was pretty obvious that designers had drawn quite a bit of influence from its natural big sibling, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Big and sporty and lavish, it wasn’t a bad place for a simpler, more affordable version of that vehicle to start, and now that we’ve officially seen the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe (the C300, anyway), we know that it, too, will draw heavily from the S-Class Coupe, at least in terms of aesthetics.

Both cars are, put as simply as possible, really beautiful, with sharp, sporty lines on the sheet metal, big wheels, sleek windows and an aggressive front end. Inside, the vehicles share a lot of similaritie stoo, and while the new C300 isn’t quite as lavishly equipped as the S300, it looks to be pretty close. In this case, close is more than enough to be excellent.

The series of powertrains available in the C-Class Coupe will, in fact, be different from those in the S-Class, but the expectation is for them to match up with the C-Class sedan offerings. Right now, it’s just the C300 available, and like its four-door brethren it will receive a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine capable of generating upwards of 241 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. Other engines will be more powerful, just like they are in the C400, C450 AMG® Sport and C63 AMG® trims, likely to come out in the months that follow its initial debut.

As your friendly Mercedes-Benz dealership in Carlsbad, we always love a new model in the stable, and based on what we’ve seen of the new C-Class Coupe, it’s absolutely worthy of our enthusiasm. We’ve got a good feeling our customers are going to love it, too.
